Saraph in the Bible — Hidden Meaning & Symbolism

burning; fiery; poisonous; venomous; deadly; burned up; consumed with fire. A man named in the genealogy of Judah (I Chron. 4:22). Meta. The thought that Saraph signifies belongs to the result of a wrong or unwise use of the life, or vital forces and powers, in the organism of the individual (burning, fiery, poisonous, venomous, burned up). The appetites and lusts of the flesh, when indulged in, poison the system, dull the ability to think and to accomplish, and finally burn up and destroy the body itself."At the last it biteth like a serpent, And stingeth like an adder." Judah, in its negative aspect, stands for the life center in the body, on the generative plane, while in its positive aspect it is praise and the upliftment of the life idea, consequently of the vital forces (Saraph was a man of Judah).
