Toi in the Bible — Hidden Meaning & Symbolism

wandering; straying from a path; error; impiety; idolatry; ungodliness. King of Hamath. He sent his son Joram to David with blessings and with gifts--vessels of gold and silver--because David had defeated Hadadezer, king of Zobah, who had also been at war with Toi (II Sam. 8:9). Meta. The indefinite, unsettled, vacillating, and seemingly untrue phase of thought that is the central characteristic of the Hamath state of consciousness (straying from a path, error, wandering, impiety, king of Hamath; Hamath signifies confidence in material conditions rather than trust in God). However, this Toi thought recognizes and gives substance to divine love (David) when it triumphs over the false reasoning of the intellect guided by the senses (Syrians).
