Meta. The soul clothed in the thought of wholeness, soundness, love, peace, and Truth. Salome is said to have been the name of the daughter of Herodias, who danced before Herod and pleased him so much that he offered her anything that she desired, even to the half of his kingdom. At the instigation of her mother she asked for the head of John the Baptist. She represents the deceptive (because fleeting and destructive) pleasure of sex sensation. (See HERODIAS.)
