two eyes; double springs; two fountains. A city in the lowlands of Judah (Josh. 15:34). The Enaim of Genesis 38:14, in whose gate Tamar sat, is supposed to be the same city. Meta. The fountain of understanding and life in man that, because of double-mindedness (belief in good and evil, in materiality as well as spirituality), is dedicated to two purposes: generation and regeneration, sense and Spirit. Double-mindedness causes instability. Stability is needed that one may grow and develop spiritually as one should. One establishes stability of character by giving oneself up wholly to the regenerative law, in singleness of purpose.
