perfection; completion; whole; finished; crowned. An Israelite who had a foreign wife after the return from the Babylonian captivity (Ezra 10:30); he is named as one of the sons of Pahath-moab. Meta. The perfection or completion that Chelal signifies cannot refer to spiritual wholeness and perfection; if it did, he could not have taken a foreign wife--made union with the unredeemed affectional soul nature. Chelal must refer more to the rounding out of the outer man preparatory to a higher spiritual understanding and attainment. He put away his foreign wife when his mistake was revealed to him by Ezra.
