What Does the Number 7 Mean in the Bible?
7 = completion and wholeness — the finished work, and the rest that follows it. God rests on the seventh day because nothing is left to do. It is a state of mind at peace, not a day of the week.
How it shows up in the Bible
Seven is scattered through the Bible so often it stops looking like a coincidence: seven days, seven spirits, seven seals, seventy times seven forgiveness. Every time, it marks the point where a thing is whole and nothing can be added. Forgiving seventy times seven is not arithmetic; it is the end of counting offences at all.
Read the whole map. Every symbol in the Bible is a state of your own mind — the book lays out the entire system, from Genesis to Revelation, in plain language.
