Zeboiim in the Bible — Hidden Meaning & Symbolism

Zeboiim (in A. V., all but Genesis 14: 2, 8, Zeboim), ze–boi'–im (Heb.)-- wars waging of wars; plunderings; preyings, rending with the teeth; beasts of prey; ravenous appetites; bestiality; carnivorous wild beasts generally. A Canaanitish city. Its king was Shemeber, one of the five kings who joined forces in the vale of Siddim to war against Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, whom they had been serving (Gen. 10: 19; 14:2). This city was overthrown along with Sodom and Gomorrah (Deut. 29:23). Zeboim is the same name. Meta. Zeboiim pertains to ravenous appetites, sensual passions, the wild–beast nature, holding sway in the subconsciousness (wars, plunderings, preyings, rending with the teeth, beasts of prey, bestiality, carnivorous wild beasts; a city whose king was subject to Chedorlaomer, rebelled against him, and was overcome. Zeboiim was destroyed with Sodom and Gomorrah, therefore was in the same class with those wicked cities). (See ZEBOIM.)
