Sallai in the Bible — Hidden Meaning & Symbolism

worker in reeds; basketmaker; wicker basket; lifting up; suspending; weighing; judging; exaltation. a A Benjamite who lived in Jerusalem after the return from the Babylonian captivity (Neh. 11:8). b A priest (Neh. 12:20). The name is spelled Sallu in Nehemiah 12:7. Meta. The blending of thoughts that have a capacity for retaining that which the individual wishes to keep in mind; the ability to hold to accepted ideas until they become a part of the consciousness, instead of letting them slip away (basketmaker, one who weaves materials to make a basket, a basket being a vessel to hold or carry articles). Sallai signifies also the ability to discern and put away error, limited thoughts (weighing, judging) and to magnify ideas that are acceptable (exaltation). Thus is the consciousness elevated (lifting up).
