Matthias in the Bible — Hidden Meaning & Symbolism

gift of Jehovah; gratuity of Jah; given wholly unto Jehovah. The man who was chosen as a disciple in place of Judas (Acts 1:23, 26). The name is equivalent to Matthew. Meta. Judas Iscariot, the disciple of Jesus whom Matthias was chosen to replace, represents the acquisitive or life faculty in individual consciousness. Matthias signifies the lifting up of this faculty (given wholly unto Jehovah) that it may aid the individual in laying hold of his higher, spiritual attainments, even eternal life, through the power of his indwelling Christ, I AM, Jehovah.
