Gahar in the Bible — Hidden Meaning & Symbolism
Gahar, ga'-här (Heb.)-- lurker; lurking place; hiding place; concealment; prostration. His children were of the Nethinim who returned from the Babylonian captivity (Ezra 2:47). Meta. A hidden thought of deep lowliness and humility, which is carried to excess because of its being based on a feeling of servitude to God instead of being based on a realization of divine sonship. (The Nethinim were servants--many of them were slaves, virtually--who did the menial work in the Temple and the Temple worship.)
