What Does the Dog Mean in the Bible?

Dog = the thought that guards, or the thought that turns and bites. Faithful attention is a dog at the door; a snarling mind is the same dog gone wild.

How it shows up in the Bible

The dogs eat the crumbs under the table, and the dogs outside the city are named as the last thing kept out. It is the same animal both times: attention that belongs to whatever feeds it. Watch what your mind keeps going back to and you have found which kind of dog is at your door.

Read the whole map. Every symbol in the Bible is a state of your own mind — the book lays out the entire system, from Genesis to Revelation, in plain language.
