What Does the Number 2 Mean in the Bible?

2 = faith — the power that holds to what is not yet seen. Two is the second serving at the table: truth is the word, and faith is what takes it in. Where two agree, the thing is established in you.

How it shows up in the Bible

Two shows up wherever something has to be established: two witnesses, two tablets, two fish at the feeding. Faith works the same way. Truth alone sits on the table untouched; when faith takes it in, the thing becomes real in you. That is why Jesus sends the disciples out two by two — truth with the confidence to act on it.
